Recruitment for 2 new studies

2 new studies starting at LESPOIR.

1. Preventing depression relapse and improving well-being at work.

Inclusion criteria :
– Diagnosis of Major Depression in the last 12 months;
– Having been on sick leave due to this depression;
– Back in the workplace for at least 1 week;
– Having the capacity to consent;
– Ability to communicate in english or in french;
– No diagnosis of a known organic disorder or mental retardation;
– Not having participated in a cognitive behavioral therapy in the last previous year.

You could be selected to participate to free cognitive behavioral therapy session which would help you in your return to work.

2. Treating social anxiety in individuals with schizophrenia: comparing and understanding the distinctive effects of two novel treatments – A pilot study.

Inclusion criteria :
– Man or woman 18-35 years old
– Having a diagnosis of a non-affective psychotic disorder and presenting symptoms of social anxiety disorder;
– Stabilized psychotic symptoms ;
– Being followed by a participating first episode of psychosis clinic;
– Ability to communicate in english or in french;
– No diagnosis of a known organic disorder or mental retardation;
– No important non-corrected visual impairments;
– Not currently receiving cognitive behavioral therapy for social anxiety.

You could receive one of the 2 treatments compared in this study for free.

Survey: Clinician views about CBT for psychosis in public mental health

Our research team is conducting a study to better understand the factors factors that either interfere with or facilitate the implementation of CBTp, from the perspective of mental health workers.  To do this, we are seeking mental health professionals’ views about CBT for psychosis and asking about some proposed adaptations that may enhance implementation.

A study on psychotic disorders with or without substance abuse (drug and/or alcohol) and their effects of social functioning

  • Have you been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder (schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, psychosis, etc.) with or without substance abuse recently?
  • Are you between the ages of 18 to 35 years old?
  • Do you do your follow ups l’Institut Universitaire en Santé Mentale or at the JAP clinic (CHUM)

If so, you could be eligible to participate in our study on social cognition.

Research objectives: To study and better understand social relationships, such as emotion recognition, self-understanding and the understanding of others. We also study the effects of substance abuse and social anxiety. We are also interested in investigating the effects of all these measures on someone’s social network (for example, friendships).

If you are selected for our study, you will have appointments with someone from LESPOIR team in order to complete questionnaires, computer tests and answer some questions verbally. We can schedule the appointments either at your unit, at University of Montreal or at the JAP clinic.

You will receive at total compensation up to 60$ (for the 3 appointments) and you will also receive bus tickets for your travels.
